Ryan Martinez

Sergeant Martinez was born in Durango Colorado. He went to Marine Corps Recruit training in 2005, earning the Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) as an infantryman. Upon graduation of the School of Infantry, Sergeant Martinez received orders to 1st Battalion 4th Marines in Camp Pendleton, CA.
Sergeant Martinez deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, shortly after arriving to the Fleet Marine Force (FMF), with the 11th Marine expeditionary force. This deployment would include Combat Operations, Humanitarian Operations in Thailand, Reinforcing the American Embassy in Qatar, and Counter Insurgency Operations. Upon his return, Sergeant Martinez took command of 2nd platoon, 1st squad leader. He conducted a five-month pre-deployment training exercise, where he would be detached from adjacent units with complete battlefield control.
Sergeant Martinez then deployed in 2006 to Al Quim Iraq, where he would be in command of a squad of marines conducting continuous combat operations. Sergeant Martinez and his Marines conducted combat operations, successfully leading to the capture of 1 high value target, aiding the Battalions’ mission in Iraq. Also Sergeant Martinez and his Marines were responsible for the interdiction of over 105 IED (Improvised Explosive Device). After returning home in 2007, Sergeant Martinez attended urban assault leaders course, and advanced breaches course. From 2008 to 2009, Sergeant Martinez was deployed to Fallujah, Iraq as a Mobile Assault Section Leader for 2nd platoon. On this deployment, Sergeant Martinez and his Marines found 7 top secret computers that had been stolen from Naval Units, 75 Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), and conducted numerous humanitarian operations.
Upon his return home in 2009, Sergeant Martinez attended and later graduated from Infantry Squad Leaders Course (ISLC) in Camp Pendleton, CA. In 2009 Sergeant Martinez was sent to the Republic of Georgia to support the Georgian Army Training Mission (GDP-ISAF mission) for their deployment to Afghanistan. Sergeant Martinez was sent to the Battalions’ Remain Behind Element (RBE) in 2010 to assume responsibility of the Medical Platoon Sergeant, while the Battalion was forwarded deployed on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). In 2011 Sergeant Martinez was assigned as the Platoon Commander for Charlie Company, 3rd platoon. In 2012 Sergeant Martinez attended and later graduated from Combat Instructor School (MCIS). Sergeant Martinez was assigned as a Combat Instructor for Alpha Company, Infantry Training Battalion, where he successfully instructed four Infantry Training Cycles. Sergeant Martinez then received orders to the Instructor Group aboard The School of Infantry, Infantry Training Battalion (WEST). Here he would instruct hundreds of students on various Infantry base knowledge and skills, as well as reform policy and procedures, aiding in the production of a more qualified Entry-Level Infantrymen in the Fleet Marine Force (FMF).
Marcos Alvarado

Sergeant Alvarado was born on the 2nd of April in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Robstown High School in October of 2002. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on November 10 2003. Upon completion of Boot Camp Private Alvarado attended the Basic School of Infantry located on Camp Pendleton in California. Private Alvarado was sent to Fox Company 2nd Bn 5th Marines two weeks prior to graduation as a 0311 on April 15 2004.
Private Alvarado was promoted to Private First Class in August 2004. PFC Alvarado deployed with Fox Company 2nd Bn 5th Marines in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to Ar Ramadi Iraq conducting multiple named operations. Private First Class Alvarado was wounded in action on October 23 2004 and awarded the Purple Heart Medal. On January 1 PFC Alvarado was promoted to Lance Corporal. Lance Corporal Alvarado returned from Iraq in March 2005. In December of 2005 Lance Corporal Alvarado deployed again with 2nd Bn 5th Marines on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit conducting Operation Balikitan, and also supporting in the relief efforts in the Philippines following the mudslide. Lance Corporal Alvarado returned for the 31st MEU in July of 2006.LCpl Alvarado was promoted to the rank of Corporal in November 2006. In March of 2007 Corporal Alvarado deployed once again with 2nd Bn 5th Marines to Ramadi Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In July of 2007 Corporal Alvarado re-enlisted for another four years in the Marine Corps and returned from deployment in October 2007. Corporal Alvarado was promoted to Sergeant on December 1 2007.
Sergeant Alvarado reported to Headquarters and Service Company in January 2008. Sergeant Alvarado served as the Company Training Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) and Administrative clerk from January 2008 to January 2010.
Sergeant Alvarado reported to Golf Company 2nd Bn 4th Marines on 15 January 2010. Sergeant Alvarado served as a Squad Leader in 2nd platoon. During the work up for the upcoming deployment Sergeant Alvarado attended Infantry Squad Leaders Course (ISLC) in April 2011. Upon completion of ISLC Sergeant Alvarado reported back into Golf Company and was transferred too 3rd platoon as a Squad Leader. Sergeant Alvarado deployed with 2nd Bn 4th Marines in August 2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), conducting operations such as Opening Gambit, Western Gambit, Southern Gambit, and the Triangle of Guilt. Sergeant Alvarado returned from deployment in March 2012.
Sergeant Alvarado reported into Marine Corps Instructor School (MCIS), School of Infantry West in June 2012. Upon completion of MCIS Sergeant Alvarado reported into Charlie Company Infantry Training Battalion. Sergeant Alvarado served with Charlie Company for four training cycles. In January 2014 Sergeant Alvarado was transferred to Headquarters & Instructor Company and is currently serving as a platform instructor.
Sergeant Alvarado’s personal awards include Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon X2, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal X2, Good Conduct Medal X3.
Sergeant Alvarado is married to Crystal Alvarado and has 5 children.
David Lopez

Sergeant Lopez was born on the 27th of November in Sierra Vista, Arizona. He graduated from Tombstone High School in May of 2007, and enlisted in the Marine Corps on 15 July 2007. Upon completion of Boot Camp Private First Class Lopez attended Infantry Training Battalion School of Infantry West located on Camp Pendleton in California. Upon graduating from Infantry Training Battalion in December 2007 PFC Lopez was assigned to Kilo Company 3rd Bn 7th Marines as a 0311.
Private First Class Lopez was promoted to Lance Corporal and assumed duties as the Squad Automatic Weapon gunner. Lance Corporal Lopez deployed with Kilo Company 3rd Bn 7th Marines to Al Anbar Iraq in August of 2008 to March 2009. Upon returning from Iraq, Lance Corporal Lopez assumed duties as squad leader in 3rd Platoon Kilo Company. Lance Corporal Lopez then deployed to Afghanistan in March of 2010. Lance Corporal Lopez was combat meritoriously promoted to Corporal, and operated in AO’s from Bakwa, to Musa Qala, and Sangin. Corporal Lopez returned from deployment in October of 2010.
Corporal Lopez then checked into Combat Instructor School in April of 2011. Upon completion of Combat Instructor School, Corporal Lopez checked into Delta Company, Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry (WEST). Corporal Lopez was then promoted to his current rank of Sergeant. During Sergeant Lopez’s time in Delta Company, he completed seven Infantry Training cycles, each cycle lasting for duration of 3 months. In 2012 Sergeant Lopez attended Infantry Squad Leaders Course where he graduated with the Instructors Choice Award, and High Personal Fitness Test award. In 2013 Sergeant Lopez attended Sergeants Course, where he graduated at the top ten percent of the class and received the High Personal Fitness Test Award. In December of 2013 Sergeant Lopez checked into the Instructor Group where he is currently a Primary Instructor in the 0300 common skills Period of Instruction.
Sergeant Lopez’s Personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal X2 with Combat Distinguishing Device and Combat Action Ribbon.
Sergeant Lopez is married to Veronica Lopez. He has three children Vanessa, Davian, and Michael Lopez.
Brett Tate

Sergeant Brett Tate was born on March 11th 1986, in West Lafayette, Indiana. He graduated from North Laurel High School in Kentucky in June 2004. He moved to Michigan to take a job at a hotel, and then enlisted into the Marine Corps in December of 2005. Upon completion of boot camp in March of 2006 he picked up the rank of Private First Class (PFC) meritoriously, then attended the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton. After graduating the School of Infantry in June of 2006, Private First Class Tate was assigned to Golf Company 2ndBattalion 5th Marines as a Basic Rifleman (0311).
Private First Class Tate was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal (Lcpl) in December of 2006. He deployed with Golf Company 2nd Battalion 5th Marines to Ar Ramadi, Iraq as part of the ground force during the surge in April of 2007. During this deployment he and his squad conducted numerous day, night, ambush, and mounted combat operations. In June of 2007 Golf Company was detached from 2nd Battalion 5th Marines and moved to Al Karmah where they were attached to Golf Company 2nd Battalion 7th Marines for support. During this time Lcpl Tate encountered Al Qaeda fighters about once a week. Lcpl Tate returned from his seven-month deployment to Iraq in November of 2007.
Lcpl Tate then earned a position as a team leader and started the training build up for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). Lcpl Tate went to Urban Assault Leaders Course from February to March of 2008, where was awarded the Gung-Ho award. Lcpl Tate then deployed on the 15th MEU in April of 2008 with Golf Company 2nd Battalion 5th Marines. He participated in Operation Infinite Moonlight in Jordan, as well as conducted numerous training operations the 15th MEU had to offer in Hawaii and countries as such as Singapore, Bahrain, Dubai, Kuwait, Jordan, and Australia. Lcpl Tate was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal (Cpl) in June of 2008. Cpl Tate returned from the seven-month deployment in November of 2008.
Cpl Tate did not have enough time left on his contract to deploy with 2nd Battalion 5th Marines so he requested to go to Afghanistan on Temporary Assignment Duty (TAD) orders to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB). Cpl Tate was approved and went over to 1st CEB in January of 2009 where he was placed in Route Clearance Platoon. Cpl Tate was appointed Assistant Patrol Leader (APL) for 3rd platoon 1st squad. He deployed in April 2009 for the push through the southern Helmand Province during Operation Khanjar. Cpl Tate conducted numerous dismounted combat patrols and came head to head with Taliban fighters on a daily basis. Cpl Tate reenlisted to complete TAD orders and ensure that he could deploy with 2nd Battalion 5th Marines upon his return. On October 9th 2009, Cpl Tate was struck with a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) that left him wounded from shrapnel. Despite his injuries Cpl Tate completed the seven-month deployment and returned in November of 2009.
Cpl Tate returned to 2nd Battalion 5th Marines Golf Company and earned the position as 1st platoon Guide until his wounds could heal from Afghanistan in time to deploy. In October of 2010, Cpl Tate was promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) and appointed as 1st squad leader for 1st platoon. Sgt Tate then deployed on the 31st MEU in January 2011, where he participated in Cobra Gold in Thailand. While on the way to Korea the 31st MEU was turned around and headed for Japan as one of the responders for the disaster caused by the tsunami that struck on March 11th. Sgt Tate took part in Operation Tamadachi, where they sent ground units in to clean up debris that had resulted from the tsunami. Sgt Tate returned to the U.S. from his five-month deployment in June of 2011. Following his return, Sgt Tate attended the Infantry Squad Leaders Course and was voted Gung-Ho by his peers. Two weeks later Sgt Tate went through Combat Instructor School. Upon graduation Sgt Tate became an instructor for Echo Company, Infantry Training Battalion (ITB). Sgt Tate is currently with the Instructor Group H&I Company ITB teaching Hand Grenades and M203 Grenade Launchers to five Infantry Training Companies.
Sgt Tateʼs personal awards include Bronze Star Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, Purple Heart, and Combat Action Ribbon X2.
Michael Rosser

Sergeant Rosser was born in Long Beach, CA. He was raised in Pullman, WA and graduated from Garfield-Palouse High School in June 2006.
Sergeant Rosser completed Recruit Training at MCRD, San Diego, CA in 2006. Sergeant Rosser then completed the Basic Infantryman Course at the School of Infantry (W), Infantry Training Battalion. Upon graduation Sergeant Rosser was assigned to 3rd Bn 5th Marines, Lima Company where he deployed to Fallujah, Iraq from September 2007-April 2008 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon return from his deployment with 3rd Bn 5th Marines in 2008, Sergeant Rosser completed Martial Arts Instructor Course and has trained over 300 Marines in Marine Corps Martial Arts.
Sergeant Rosser then attended and graduated the Combat Hunter Course, where he successfully learned how to track personnel through vigorous terrain, and how to profile individuals. Immediately following the Combat Hunter Course, Sergeant Rosser attended Helicopter Rope Suspension Training where he was certified to set up rigs on repel towers and multiple helicopter platforms, as well as fast roping and spy rigging.
In September of 2010 through April of 2011, Sergeant Rosser deployed to Sangin, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) with 3rd Bn 5th Marines. Upon return from Afghanistan Sergeant Rosser attended Marine Corps Combat Instructor School, where he was certified as a Formal School Instructor and has taught thousands of young Marines in hands on training and teaching formal periods of instruction in a professional classroom environment. Since serving as a Combat Instructor Sergeant Rosser has attended Infantry Squad Leader Course, received a secondary Military Occupational Specialty as a Mortar man (0341), and in August of 2014 Sergeant Rosser completed Sergeants Course. Sergeant Rosser is currently serving as a Platform Instructor at the School of Infantry, Infantry Training Battalion (WEST).
Anthony Lopez

Lance Corporal Lopez deployed with India Company 3rd Bn 7th Marines to Al Anbar Iraq in August of 2008 to March 2009. Upon returning from Iraq, Lance Corporal Lopez assumed duties as squad leader in 3rd Platoon India Company. Lance Corporal Lopez then deployed to Afghanistan in March of 2010. Lance Corporal Lopez was meritoriously promoted to Corporal, and operated in Areas of Operation (AO) from Gulistan, to Musa Qala, and Sangin. Corporal Lopez returned from deployment in October of 2010. In January of 2011 Corporal Lopez Attended Infantry Squad Leaders course, and was the GUNG-HO award recipient.
Corporal Lopez then checked into Combat Instructor School in April of 2011. Upon completion of Combat Instructor School Corporal Lopez checked into Charlie Company Infantry Training Battalion. Corporal Lopez was then promoted to his current rank Sergeant. During Sergeant Lopez’s time in Charlie Company, he completed nine (3 month long) Infantry Training Cycles. In 2013 Sergeant Lopez attended Sergeants Course, where he graduated as a distinguished honor graduate and received the High Personal Fitness Test Award.
